Grundy County Home Care Nurses work closely with physicians to provide skilled nursing home care. Services include, but are not limited to, wound care, medication management, diabetic teaching, blood draws, health teaching, catheter care, and IV therapy. Through the agency home therapies are available for qualified individuals. Services are billable to Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance to individuals who meet criteria.
Skilled nursing home care services are provided through a merger with Allen Home Health. The Grundy County office functions as an extension of Allen Home Health and is a department of Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. The Grundy staff serves all of Grundy County. Allen Home Health is Medicare certified and JCAHO accredited. The Grundy County nurses live and work in the county and receive back up from the Allen Home Health staff. A nurse is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
Homemaker-Home Care Aide services provide assistance with bathing, skin care, shampoo, and light housekeeping.
The Grundy Office provides the public health services for Grundy County. The public health department receives county funding and state and federal grants to support the various programs and services. Services include: individual and group teaching and information, screening clinics for hypertension and childhood lead poisoning, communicable disease investigation with follow-up and prevention, an early visitor program, H.O.P.E.S. (Healthy Opportunity for Parents to Experience Success) for new parents, school health services, agricultural occupational health services, and referral to community resources. Clinic opportunities include WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), immunizations, foot care, and in the fall flu shot clinics. Elderly Waiver case management and coordination of community services is available for seniors to remain safely in their homes as long as possible. The agency is a member of Grundy County Community Partners. The agency is working actively with county emergency management and law enforcement to strengthen public health preparedness in the event of a natural disaster or an act of terrorism. The Grundy County Board of Health is appointed by the Board of Supervisors to oversee the activities of the public health department.
